Bath Time

One of my favorite just-for-me times is when I crawl into my huge garden tub for a soak. Beginning when the kids were born, I put them to bed and take an hour for myself in the tub. I sometimes bring along music, often light candles, and frequently bring reading material. I would never give up this time to myself.

Usually, the only intruder is my cat, Whiskey. He is will be 16 years old this spring and he has a fetish for bath water. Not sure why, but he always joins me and meows with unflagging resolve for water. He will lick the droplets off my feet and drink from a cup formed by my hands. He is a strange, but lovable creature.

Weigh In: How often do you take just-for-me time and what do you do with it?

Happy Monday, y'all!

  1. Mine is reading. I will just grab my book and go up to my huge bed, jump under the covers and read. My girls do a good job of respecting that (most of the time!).

I envy you your huge tub - I haven't had a decent soak in years!

  2. It's rare to have time for myself this time of year, although on Saturday I did close myself in my bedroom for 30 minutes and read. I love taking baths too!

  3. I am not much of a bath person myself. I do like to sit in our hot tub though. But, I am rarely ever in it by myself. The family always joins me, so this would not qualify for "me" time!

  4. This semester I have started getting up an hour earlier - a HUGE task for me. However, the benefits far out-weigh the costs and I have so enjoyed my quiet, unhurried hour! I usually work on assignments, read, or just sit in the still and quiet. Peace is not to be undervalued!

  5. Ha! I wish I had "just for me time." It seems like there is never, ever enough time in the day to even squeeze out five minutes for myself anymore. When I am lucky enough to take a shower without having to also play peek-a-boo with Mabry (she loves her some shower curtain) I usually try to bring a magazine in with me and read for a few minutes and just let the water hit my back.
I am trying to figure out a way to pull back the reins and slow down some. There is some definite notice of the wear and tear of not giving myself some time and attention.
