We got up at 4:30 AM to drive to Dover and then tailgated with friends before the race. We thankfully had a tent to keep the weather at bay. We grilled burgers and sausage, talked, laughed, and had a great time. Then it was time for the green flag. Thanks to my "personal weatherwoman" (you know who you are :0) I knew the clouds would part and we would get the race on. We sat in Turn 1...looking straight down pit road.
Brian's favorite racer is Clint Boyer and mine is Tony Stewart. Jimmie Johnson won (BOOO!) but Tony had a strong finish in 9th place and Clint came in 15th. Joey Logano had a horrible wreck but thankfully was okay. He rolled the car 7-10 times before coming to a stop.
Once the rain cleared, the sky was amazing. Driving home I saw this cloud formation out the car window and then I was really sorry I didn't have my "real" camera. The point and shoot didn't go so well :0(
We had a fabulous day with friends! These kind of days make memories! Between Brian's triathlon, the kids' soccer games, and the Race, we had a HUGE weekend! Oh, and to top the day off, the Ravens won! Actually they annihilated the Browns! It really doesn't get any better than that.Weigh In: Tell me about your favorite sports memory!
xoxo,
A busy weekend it WAS! I simply could not juggle the Ravens game, the race and Casey's football game. They all occured AT THE SAME TIME!!! Casey cheered for JV and Varsity and they won both games!! Yay! Glad you had fun! Pffft on Tony...hee hee.
ReplyDeleteSo your a Nascar fan...have you ever done the Daytona 500? I wish I would have known this, all those years we had that place at Daytona Beach just 5 miles from the racetrack, you would have had a free place to stay. i signed up to work the race one year...I lasted just one day, could not believe the noise. My favorite sports memory is, when I was 12 years old, going to the old Memorial Stadium and watching the City/POly high school football game on Thanksgiving
ReplyDeleteI am such a weather geek...but I was so right! Glad you all had a great time...take the cam to Martinsville though.
ReplyDeleteLove me some racing...love it!!
You were a busy lady this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe sky in that last shot is breathtaking.
Well done to the Ravens. Wish I could say the same for the 'Skins...instead, all I can say is YIKES!! Losing to the Lions?! We have the Bucs this Sunday, who are winless on the season so...we'll see what happens.
ReplyDeleteNow, my favorite sports memory? That would have to be Kilkenny's fourthe All-Ireland championship victory in a row last month! I wrote in loving detail about that ;-)
My favorite sports memory would have to be my very first Denver Broncos game when I lived in Denver. I was a huge fan and watched them religiously each Sunday on television. There was never a worry for a blackout because games were sold out well before the start of each season. I won two tickets from a giveaway at work. My then boyfriend and I had the best day that Sunday!
ReplyDeleteYou stay busy, don't you? My favorite sports memory is going to Memorial Stadium to watch the Orioles play. That was a loooooong time ago.
ReplyDeleteOnce when I was a kid my parents took me and my sisters to a NASCAR race at Watkins Glen. We actually camped right there at the track all weekend and people were rowdy. At one point while walking around with my sister and Dad some (very drunk) woman lifted her top and flashed us. My sister and I couldn't get back to the camp fast enough to relive the horror of some strange girl showing us her boobs. Needless to say whenever I think of NASCAR I can't help thinking of that lady's chest.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite sports memories are all about football! Vanderbilt and The Giants! Beautiful skies you got there my dear;)
ReplyDeleteWow those sky shots are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI really loved going to Safeco Field for the first time to see the Mariners play... Best memory would have to be when the Seattle Sonics won the NBA championship game. It was a big party for days and I was in high school, so it was perfect.
When my sister was married to an Air Force guy - they lived in Dover. He had to work parking for some of the races and hated every minute of it. I hope you had a great time.
